Well, another little entry, this time for a contest at The idea was to draw a nightmare like being, and this is what I came up with.

Yess, it's crude and sketchy, but I meant it to be that way, thought it gave more of a scary feel, even if I failed. Nevertheless, I am quite proud of this.

To give a little background, this creature (who I like to call the Surgeon's Bride) comes to haunt and scare newly wed couples in the honeymoon suite of an old country hotel. Around the 16th century, she was just a young girl, about to marry a doctor. However, went they left to honeymoon at the little hotel, he revealed he was going to lose his reputation,wealth and medical liscence, unless something was done. The girl asked if she could help, as a good wife would, and seals her fate...

Looking back in medical records, it could now be seen he was discharged from his profession, due to the bizarre and cruel experiments he performed in his research, genius turned to madness. It was that night, in that room, on his honeymoon, that he mutilated his wife, removing her arms and one of her legs, replacing them with crude attachments, surgical blades now her fingertips. She was scarred, bloody and bruised, one eye also ripped out, and her heart, pulled out and torn to shreds, only to be stitched back into her body.

Now, whenever newlyweds stay in that room, she will come, dressed in the nightgown she was wearing on her wedding night, to haunt them, to test them. Like the surgeon tested her loyalty, asking if she would save his career by letting him mutilate her, she will ask other brides if they are willing to do such things for their men.

Say the right answer, the hand with the blades curled inward will rise, you will be spared.

Say the wrong answer, the hand with blades pointed out, where a wedding ring dangles from a bloody knife finger, will do justice.

Gory yes, but still. Anyway, hope it's not that bad. Drawn in manga style anyway, as always, just a little darker.
